Tuesday, Sept. 13 - Taormina

We were met by a good guide (Angelo) and set off for Taormina, which hangs on the side of the hills overlooking the bay. We switched to a crowded shuttle bus to get up to the town, entering by the Messina Gate. Our first stop was at the Palazzo Corvaja, a Norman building, built over an Arab tower, that erved as the site of the first Sicilian parliament in 1473. Inside were some displays of Sicilian puppets and an ornate Sicilian cart. Then we walked through the tourist-crowded streets toward the Greek theater.
